You know a ccTLD has become completely accepted in the business world when a giant company like Visa uses it to brand their hottest new service offering. Out of all the choices out there Visa went with V.ME to brand their new service that looks like it will take a big bite out of Pay Pal.

Just looking at the site you can see why Visa sees this as a strong brand. It’s easy to remember, looks great as a logo, and the fact that it rhymes is a nice added bonus. The great thing about Visa making a move like this is that is will definitely continue to grow .ME as a global brand. Let’s face it, knowing Visa they are probably going to have television commercials for this service which means millions of people will see the site and go, “Wow, what is .ME?”

Like most consumers they’ll hop on over to Go Daddy, see that they too can register .ME and thanks to a big brand like Visa getting behind it, the confidence is there. For entrepreneurs looking at ways to build their brands online .ME continues to be a top choice when the .COM is taken. Now with Visa getting behind the TLD the awareness will continue to grow and with awareness comes demand. So for all the .ME investors out there (myself included) this is a great win for all of us, and I think just a sign of things to come!
