I am very excited to welcome you to ccTLDInvestors.com – an online magazine about investing in the Global Domain Market. There are some incredible investment opportunities in the ccTLD space and we look forward to helping you learn more about global domain investing.
The timing could not be better! ccTLD sales doubled last year while .com/.net/.org sales declined – the market is growing – and quickly! The top-selling domain at TRAFFIC 2010 in Las Vegas was a .co.za domain from South Africa! Oh and did I mention that the second-highest domain sale so far this year is a .fr!
Countries like India, China, Brazil, Mexico, and many more are seeing a steady increase in Internet users – and .com in many cases is not their TLD of choice! Go to Germany and you’ll find that owning a brand means owning the corresponding .de – the same is true in Canada with .ca. It can be easy to become .com-centric – and with good reason – they have been the leader of the pack in the domain investing space.
As more of the world population comes online, ccTLD’s will continue to see a rise in value and type-in traffic will grow. Just think – if credit.fr can sell for over $850,000 today – what could other single-word ccTLD’s sell for five years from now?
There is unlimited potential in the ccTLD market but it takes understanding the country, knowing who your visitor is, and delivering what they might be looking for. English won’t always make sense as more people in China speak Chinese than English! ccTLD’s allow domain investors to “Go Global” and invest abroad.
In many ways this time period could be compared with the late nineties with the first domain investors were buying .com’s. The market wasn’t quite there yet – but over the following ten years it grew like nobody could have expected – well…I guess some of us expected it! There is no reason to think the ccTLD market won’t continue to grow at a rapid pace – the good news is – if you’re reading this – you’re early!

Congrats on the new blog/magazine Morgan. I have a lot to learn about ccTLDs so I will be a daily reader.
Great initiative Morgan. I always enjoy your blog posts and a ccTLD focus will be interesting to read about since I’ve mainly investen in Swedish domains since I began investing and developing domains. Maybe I will take the step to neighbour countries and others while there still is potential out there.
